New Liverpool Kits – So long Carlsberg sponsorship, We will miss you

Here are Liverpool’s new kits for the upcoming season (now that the third was released today.) This is the first year that bank Standard Chartered has taken over as the shirt sponsor, replacing Carlsberg after 18 years of service (the longest kit sponsor deal in FA history)

Home:

Away:

Third:

My Verdict on All Three:

The Home: Nothing spectacular, typical red LFC home shirt, but all the printing and Adidas damn non-continous stripes makes this a step down from the 2008/10 home kit.

The Away: Probably one of Adidas best away kits for the upcoming season, as you can see I already have my Dirk Kuyt long-sleeve in official club printing ready for the season (I do hope he doesn’t leave the club), but this shirt is great, the stripes look great with the colors and the new sponsor in black looks pretty sharp, a 10/10 effort from the Dassler boys.

The Third: This reminds me of the away kit from last year but is not as good as that shirt. The black is fine, but the bright yellow is not as good as the Gold was, and the fact that the player prints are also in that blinding yellow is a minor setback. Luckily this shirt will only be worn in Liverpool’s European travels in the UEFA Europa League, so it will not be seen much.

I am waiting on Manchester United’s away kit to give a full season preview for them, I’ll have a general roundup soon enough of what jersey news has been happening in American sports. Until then – J
